Value for money and central location.

Seemed little control of rowdy residents and thin walls meant hearing snoring from two different sides. Not a problem though if you are a heavy sleeper.

Was not given soap or shampoo, did not receive any info on whether I could purchase breakfast.

We had a great stay the people were very freiendly they looked up places to go, sorted out taxis and we thought the room was fantastic value, The whole expreience was good. We got more than what we paid for , and hotel location so near to edinburgh. The train station on the same street takes you to edinburgh city centre in 20 mins and only about 4.50 return, Some of the reveiws say bad things but it did not put us off and we are pleased we stayed, on our return from Oban we are staying again. We enjoyed a good breakfast freshly cooked. A good exprience

The staff were very friendly and honest people.Good location bud little problem to find it from main street. Good location from the airport and Edinburg. Nice walking from the hotel to the seaview, also locations is close to shops. The room was nicely decorated and clean. Very good value for money. Thanks to "old times feeling" it was a really nice experience to stay. I recoomend this hotel.

The environment was pretty friendly, the access to the hotel very easy (walk distance to the rail station) and the price really good.

The rooms are rather small, but comfy however. Moreover, the hotel is not new but it is a charming atmosphere.

I found this hotel economical an the staff very helpful. My room was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed a quiet pint in the bar. I would not hesitate to recommend. I will be using this accomadation again. I was on business at Rosyth at the local navel base. This hotel is only minutes away from there, so was a bonus. The mangement were very approchable.

I arrived quite late, but still could get in my room. Thanks for that! The room was tidy incl. Bath. Slept well in a silent enviroment.

SEENothing! This "hotel" is the worst and dirtiest I have ever been in, the room was dirty, the tv did not work, and all of the remote controls were kept in a drawer in the reception area, and they could not be identified by the room number, and the TVs were of different makes.I Was very tired after a long journey, otherwise I would have looked for somewhere else and forfieted my £41.00 room only charge. The bar was out of beer and wine, and could only offer larger or soft drinks, they actualy sent someone to the local sainsburys for two bottles of wine!

    Leaving

Its disgusting !!!!!! The room was tiny and filthy, I have never seen anything like this hotel - its terrible. There were two members of staff, who were teenage boys and clueless.... This is the worse, filthy hotel I have ever had the misfortune to go to - do not go to this dump.

We were horrified to read some of the negative reiews. Our rooms were spotless and the decor lovely The rooms had new carpets and new furniture and some ensuite compact but brand new.We had a great shower lots of pressure and hot water. The room I was in was 17 it was spaciuos not huge and not tiny. They are upgrading carpets in hallways it does need it. We got a really good rate and the staff helped us and were very pleasant. The owner/manageress was very accomadating and we could only recommend this hotel. We are thinking of booking again as we are attending a course locally. Its got decking at front of Hotel and we sat and had a coffee outside. Two of my friends also booked. We looked around the other rooms and granted some doubles are small but again great value for money. The family rooms are spacious and you certainly get what you pay for. The bar is very cosy wodden panelled, mind you not open late not brilliantly stocked beer soft drinks but adaquate , but a good place to chat to other tourists and travellers.Internet free!! It says public areas but we got it in our rooms. I had cooked breakfast £7.50 but freshly cooked I had hash brownies, bacon sausage beans and fresh mushrooms and tomatoes. I hate tinned so was delighted.Very plesant dining room. The service good overall, worth a visit its not 4 star its 1 or 2 star. The location is fantastic and a bonus you can get a train from same street 2 mins walk or buses to airport Edinburgh only 20 mins away think it cost us 6 pounds return to edinburgh . We will be back great hospitality from the staff.

The shower room was really clean and had been looked after.

On arrival at the hotel we were confronted with a bin full and overflowing with rubbish right on the door step

The smell as you walk in the front door. Not an overpowering odour and difficult to describe accurately. Stale and fusty. The bathroom was the best part of the room, showing that it had recently been renewed. However, there was no soap or shampoo and the shaving mirror was unlit. The room was adequate but the mattress had seen better days. Breakfast is extra, either continental or 'full'. No fruit juice and you toast your own bread. In mitigation they are in the process of expanding and upgrading although I get the feeling that they are stuffing in as many rooms as they can get away with. Lack of attention to detail lets it down badly.

Very easy to access. Very close to the train / bus station. Good sized car park. Ideal location for our trip to the Royal Highland Show. Very relaxed and easy going atmosphere. Good breakfast, plenty to fill you up for the day adhead.

Room could have been smarter. The curtain rail was drooping. Towels a bit on the thin side, and more tea bags etc on the room tray would have been nice.

  • Older travelers
    4.2

It was a fast walk to and from the train and bus stations.

No clock, no chair, tiny cramped room with no space to move, no hand towels or wash cloths, old thin bath towels, only soap was cheap badly scented antibacterial liquid (and no shampoo), curtain insufficient to really cover window. Definitely overpriced for what we got.
